How to get your stream listed in the SHOUTcast Directory (Auth hash/public set up)

By default, SHOUTcast v2 does not list your stream in the SHOUTcast directory - it makes your stream 'private'.

This simply means your station won't be published to their directory, but you can leave your stream like this and listeners can tune in without any problems.

If you'd like to be listed in the SHOUTcast directory, which is understandable as it can generate extra listeners for your station then here is how to do it.

Your stream needs to be online, either AutoDJ or your live encoder is fine.

1. Open up your stream url e.g. http://ipaddress:port - you can obtain this by logging into CentovaCast by clicking the 'Admin' link on the left hand side, or from our client area under 'My Services', the url is shown there. You will notice the stream is currently 'private'.

2. You should now see the SHOUTcast status page for your stream. Click on the 'Server Login' link, the username ia admin and the password is the same as your CentovaCast password. You can obtain this from the client area under 'My Services' -> 'View Details'.

3. Click on the 'Create Authhash' link and fill out the requested details - these details will be used for your listing in the SHOUTcast directory. Once filled out press the 'Create Authhash' button.

4. You will need to restart your server in CentovaCast for the changes to take effect. Once this is done, if you check your SHOUTcast status page, it should now show as 'public' - however it can sometimes take up to 24 hours for SHOUTcast to approve any new listings, so please allow 24 hours before raising a ticket.

If you wish to change any of the details you enter in step 3, the 'Create Authhash' link will instead say 'Update Authhash', simply click this and make the required changes.

Finally, you can obtain your auth hash for future reference by clicking the 'Manually set authhas' link, you can also enter an existing Authhash on this page if you already have one.
