SHOUTcast: How to stream with Winamp + SHOUTcast DSP

You need to download and install Winamp from www.winamp.com and the SHOUTcast DSP plugin for Winamp from www.shoutcast.com/broadcast-tools if you haven't done so already.
Note: You should install Winamp before installing the SHOUTcast DSP plugin.

Once the above is done you need to Open Winamp and enable the SHOUTcast DSP plugin, here's how:

1) Open Winamp and go to Options, then select 'Preferences'.

2) In the Preferences window you will need to scroll down the options on the left until you see 'DSP/Effect'.

3) Now select 'Nullsoft SHOUTcast Source DSP' and then Close the 'Preferences' window. (Select 'none' to disable the SHOUTcast DSP plugin again.)

4) You should now see the 'SHOUTcast DSP' window. If not, check its not hidden behind another window or check the windows tray area.

5) Input the server IP address into the 'Address' box and your streaming port into the 'Port' box as shown on the 'Quick Links' page in CentovaCast.
Your streaming password is the 'Source Password' configured in CentovaCast. Using the 'Administrator Password' won't work. Leave Stream ID and User ID as they are.

6) You must now tick the 'Use SHOUTcast v1 mode' option. Failure to do so will result in errors when trying to connect.

7) Click the 'Yellow Pages' tab. This is where you can set your stream details such as title, genre, url etc.

8) Click the 'Encoder' tab and select your Encoder Type and your bitrate.

9) Click the 'Input' tab and select your input type. For testing purpose and/or a straight forward setup you may wish to select 'Winamp', otherwise you can select a soundcard.

10) As long as you have selected a valid input and your connection details are correct you should now be able to stream. Click the 'Output' tab and then click 'Connect'.

Extra notes:
- Remember to Start your stream in CentovaCast before trying to connect!
- If you have enabled AutoDJ, you need to upload tracks and configure a playlist before you can start you stream. Read this article for more info.
- Ensure the bitrate selected in Winamp doesn't exceed your allowed bitrate as doing so will cause your server to be automatically stopped by CentovaCast.
- If using AutoDJ be sure to select matching bitrate/samplerate and channels (stereo or mono) in CentovaCast. Read this article for more info.

Problems?

Unable to connect with your encoder? Ensure your stream has been Started in CentovaCast. If you're still unable to connect, read this article.

If you selected your soundcard as an input, try using Winamp as the input as a test measure. Remember to ensure a track is playing in Winamp when testing. If it works with Winamp selected as the input then you know the issue is related to your soundcard settings. Ensure the volume levels aren't too low and that your soundcard isn't disabled or muted. A 'bad' input can cause you to stream silence or cause connection errors.
