SHOUTcast/Icecast is restarting/crashing when listener slots are full

The 'listener limit' is actually a client limit. This means that all requests to the stream i.e. listeners but also visits to the SHOUTcast/Icecast admin/status/stats pages are counted towards the client limit.

The reason this can cause an issue is because CentovaCast checks your server is running normally every few minutes - if its receives an error it will restart the server.

When your client limit has been reached, further requests will return an error or no response to CentovaCast, so CentovaCast will restart the server thinking the stream has crashed.

There is some fault tolerence built into CentovaCast to prevent this from happening, but there are some instances where the server may still be restarted.

The only solution is to increase the allowed number of listener slots on the stream.
